Tip and Tricks on How to Pass Network +

Network + is a baseline certification offered by CompTIA and it has become an industry-standard certification that is also approved by the DoD 8570 mandate, and it covers several foundational cybersecurity topics. Many organizations and corporations are actively searching for certified cybersecurity professionals and the average salary of someone with a Network + certification is $75,000 a year.

Know the Exam

The Network + certification verifies successful candidates who enhance the knowledge and skills to design and implement functional networks, use devices such as switches and routers to segment network traffic and create resilient networks and maintain essential network devices. This exam will consist of a maximum of 90 multiple choice and performance-based questions with a passing score of at least 720 (scale of 100-900). The candidate will have a total length of 90 minutes to complete the exam. Since this is an entry-level certification you do not need to have any background experience to be able to take this exam.

Skills You Will Gain

The Network + exam covers five different skill sets. These four skill sets are as followed:

  • Networking Concepts: Explain the purpose of a variety of networking concepts and implement them appropriately.
  • Infrastructure: Determine & explain the appropriate cabling, device and storage technologies.
  • Network Operations: Use best practices to manage the network determine policies & ensure business continuity.
  • Network Security: Summarize physical security & common attacks while securing the wired and wireless network.
  • Network Troubleshooting & Tools: Explain the network troubleshooting methodology & appropriate tools to support connectivity & performance.

Take a Practice Test

The best way to see if you are ready to take the exam is by taking a practice test or quiz, and CompTIA will give you a free set of practice questions if you visit their website and fill out a quick form. These questions will give you a good example of what to expect on the real exam and gauge your body of knowledge.

Rest Well and Stay Focused!

This is probably really simple advice that everyone has heard before a big exam, but it works. Being well-rested and eating a light breakfast will help greatly while testing. Studies have shown that stretching, taking deep breaths, and drinking water help with focus while test-taking and generates better results.
